Total of Eight Communication Officers, 7 days on and 7 days off, 12 hour shifts, 2 dispatchers per shift:

Duties Include:
Basic knowledge of computers, copiers, printers, fax and multi-line phones
Radio communication with Deputies, EMS, Fire, and OHSEP officials
Dispatch responsibilities include Fire Departments, State Troopers, Constables, Wildlife Services, Ambulance, Coroner, Towing, Animal Control and various Law Enforcement Task Forces in addition to the Sheriff’s Department
Information is entered and dispatched for these agencies via the Communications Computer Aid Dispatch (CAD) network.
Enter information into and retrieve information from National Crime Information Center (NCIC)
Receive complaints and requests for services by telephone or radio, obtain necessary information and dispatch necessary officials and/or advise callers of proper contact for assistance or information
Receiving all incoming calls, dispatching applicable personnel for the Sheriff’s Department
Maintains appropriate logs for all complaints and services requested
Maintains knowledge of location of various emergency and non-emergency response personnel
Receive Activation of Alarm at residence or business
Monitor E-911 phone trunks and several non emergency lines along with TTY
Furnish emergency medical pre-arrival information
Monitor Weather Channels and notify personnel of weather
Alert public of parish wide emergency, road hazards, flooded roads, bridge or ferry closing, thru the Public Alert System
Provide information to public as requested
